12.22.05 Catch Can Install
While also doing the catch can install, we refastened the intake tube using a skinnier clamp. Some of these first pictures you'll see will involve its removal and cleaning.
The oil was pooling at the intake tube connection to the SC, then leaking out of the slits in the intake tube. Why there are slits there is beyond me; yes, to make it easier to get onto the SC flange, but it also makes it easier to come off!
It look gross, but that's about 1 yeart's worth of accumulation, so not terribly bad.
The intake was attached with a skinnier band clamp. If it works off again, a silicone coupling setup will be used.
I also did some cleaning from where the oil had caused some griminess

Interlude: a salvage 525 was purchased by the shop, and theyhad some fun with it.
Now to mounting the catch can. Function had to follow form, but I also needed to be able to see the contents of the can, and also have it look 'clean'. Mission accomplished I'd say.
The hose pieces were from the original line used, and a piece of OEM pre-molded fuel hose that was cut to fit.
They aren't seen here, but worm clamps were used at all hose fittings
Neatly tucked away just above the alternator area. Its a little difficult to see from the pictures, but you can trace the path. I can use a flashlight to monitor the contents of the can/bowl.
I don't anticipate a large volume of oil, and can empty it whenever I do a filter change, which is about every 3-4 months.
