July 2005 - Projector Z With DDE & HID
Without any other PnP solutions available for an HID solution, I finally pulled the trigger on this setup, complete with new headlights with HID & DDEs, totally preassembled by Apexcone.
The build took longer than I expected, but such it is with custom, low volume project builds.
The un-install of the OEM parts wasn't too bad. I did some cleaning [of course] will all the available access. I decided to go ahead and remove the washer tank since I never use it, and its so friggin big.
There was some difficulty during the install, although I followed the instructions to the letter and was very careful throughout the entire process.
I actually caught Jim at the office late on Friday, and that helped me get 95% completed, but by the ed of the night, I still could not get the DDE to illuminate per the instructions.
I followed up with Jim Sat morning and we tried troubleshooting over the phone, but I'm not an electrical guy [hence why I had everything pre-installed] so this became frustrating very quickly.
The solution was to run the DDEs from the existing fog light loom I was using. I had since removed the lamps, but left the wiring and switch in place. It took all of 30min for my install tech at my local Tweeter to get it done an operational.

Amazing what you can do with exposure settings :>P
