Spal Pusher Fan - July 2006

I wanted lower slow speed IATs, and during the hotter months, delay the onset of higher IATs altogether.

The 2030 Spal 12" pusher fan rated at 1360 from The Fan Man fit without issue. $117 delivered for the fan and the mounting rods.

The fan fit great.  In fact, I could have probably gone to the highest flowing fan, since the widest part is the motor, but I have plenty of clearance there.

The sides fit flat onto the aftercooler, and the top and bottom were maybe an 1/8 of an inch on the aftercooler frame; no drama

We used some factory BMW electrical connections, and shrink wrapped the run.  Even though its moving quite a bit more air, it seems to me a shade quieter to me.  The pitch is different.  Anyway, we also upgraded most of the mounting hardware for the aftercooler while we had the bumper off.

In summary:

• I'll know more about the resistance to higher temps in the coming days; IATs were ambient plus 30*F this morning, so I think I finally got my aftercooler bled correctly

• if I can fit the stronger fan in front of the aftercooler with my Z3 front end, I'd bet any of the E36 guys could do the highest flowing unit.
