12.02.11 Season / Year End Maintenance
Oil and filter change with 5.50 (annual)
Transmission fluid change with factory fluid (annual)
Fluid flush with SRF (annual)
Front and real caliper dust seal replacement
Front and rear stainless steel
brake line replacement
At my last tech inspection, I asked about caliper rebuilds, and was told if
the dust seals are kept in good shape, they are the first line of defense
against needing a rebuild, and mine were showing some minor signs of
cracking, so figured after 7 years, and taking the temps up higher than
usual on the track, I opted to have all these replaced vs. a complete
rebuild.
If the dust seals fail, dirt/dust gets into the piston bore and causes
damage; this is what typically necessitates a rebuild.
The lines have served me well, and I have never had a problem with them, but
again, after 7 years, and now with track driving, I consider it preventative
maintenance. The stainless lines were actually slightly less expensive than
the factory lines, so figured I’d give them a shot.
