07.23.11 FVD Rear Deck Ram Air Scoop

When I received my painted scoop from Gold Crest, I noticed the scoop did not have any of the posts I had read about earlier from others who have done the install. These posts were fixed in the scoop, which required one to drill their rear
deck for the posts to pass through, then nuts were attached to the underside.

I called and spoke to Steve at GC, and he informed me that this was not a concern, and to run a bead of silicone just inside the tape for added adhesion, but that this was the mounting process for the factory pieces.

The double sided stuff they used seemed pretty darn stout and they know I drive the car on track so I am not worried.

Here’s the process I used:

Get some pictures of other installs up on your laptop before you begin to check the alignment of others; there is no template.

  1. Remove RS wing; this makes it easier to position the scoop.

  2. I did several test fits, gauging by eye alone, checking for alignment and or gaps. Also checking what pictures were available on line.

  3. After doing this ~50 times, I finally decided it was time

  4. Wipe down mounting surface of car with isopropyl alcohol

  5. Remove tape shield from double sided tape

  6. Apply bead of silicone sealant (DAP)

  7. Hover above application area, eye ball it once more, and then apply the scoop to the deck surface

  8. Press down hard on the back end of the scoop to ensure the tape mates to the surface of the deck
