Bruce (Blue 997)
Jerry (Red Boxster)
After coffee we headed to 3G race shop in Greensboro where the owner Greg gave us a detailed tour of his new facility and the cars that were there. He then did free tech inspections for a few of us, drained and filled George's transmission fluid, and swapped in some new pads in prep for my trip to the Carolinas DE @ VIR in a couple weeks.
Tech Note: PFC 01s vs. PFC 97s
"The 97 pad is an endurance pad. Though the pad wear would be excellent the heat input to the rotor would be higher. That with the added weight of all wheel drive and you would have a bigger issue with cracked rotors rather than abrasive wear. The other reason is that the 01 will pull the factory pad material that is inherently left on the rotor much quicker. Plus the car with its added front weight will really respond to the 01. "
Greg was very generous with his time on a Saturday and we're very appreciative. I look forward to doing more tech sessions at Greg's shop, 3G.
